I’m a psychopath? Find out with this psychological test

I’m a psychopath? It may be that on some occasion you have done something wrong or have developed some strange behavior that has led you to ask yourself this question. First of all, we want to clarify that being a psychopath does not mean, as the cinema has mistakenly led us to believe, that we are murderers, far from it. Psychopathy has different degrees and, although it may seem like a lie, it is present to a greater or lesser extent in a large part of the population.

If something has led you to think that you can be part of one of those people, you can find out for sure by taking this psychological test popularly known as the Rorschach Test. This exam is basically made up of 10 sheets with different ink stains in which you will have to say exactly what figure or object you see represented on them. Do you dare to do it? Forward!

The Rorschach Test to know if you are a psychopath

The Rorschach test was devised and published in 1921 by the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Hermann Rorschach and, popularized mainly through the cinema, it survives as a psychological test that tries to achieve a description of the personality of the person who performs it. Do you dare to do it? The instructions are very simple: What do you see in these ink blobs?

First drawing

Most people appreciate a moth, butterfly, or bat on this ink sheet. Seeing masks or animal faces is associated with some kind of paranoia.

Second drawing

The most common interpretation of this drawing is to appreciate two human figures. On many occasions they have been described as two people wearing turbans or as two clowns with similar profiles. If you don’t see exactly that in this image, it could be revealing to you that you have a problem relating to people.

Third drawing

In this third sheet, two human figures can also be seen in the ink stains. On many occasions, this interpretation is linked to the sexual tendency of the individual who is taking the test depending on whether she perceives male or female profiles. Not seeing people in this image could also reveal deficiencies in human relations.

Fourth drawing

This is one of the most difficult Rorschach test spots to appreciate and interpret. Some people see an animal head in this print while others see a man seen from below. The interpretations of this figure are linked to the image that each individual has of their own father or the concept of ‘authority’.

Fifth drawing

The figure in this drawing is also related to some kind of insect or a bat. Usually, women tend to see a butterfly in this spot and men, a bat. According to some interpretations, seeing crocodile jaws at the ends could reveal hostility.

Sixth drawing

As with some of the previous plates, the interpretation of this plate does not arouse much consensus. Some people see an extended animal skin, but others, however, appreciate a male or a female sexual organ.

Seventh drawing

This ink stain also has many interpretations. One of the most common is to see two faces or two women. The meaning that this drawing can suggest is usually linked to the image that each person has of their own mother.

Eighth drawing

In this spot it is very common for the individual who performs the test to see two animals on the sides. People who do not make this interpretation are said to have certain traits related to psychopathy such as aggressiveness or anxiety.

Ninth drawing

In most cases, the spots on this plate are interpreted separately. The person who is carrying out this psychological test can see different figures such as people, insects or fire. The responses can give rise to knowing the subject’s tolerance and response to negative situations or contexts.

Tenth drawing

In this last drawing, it is common to see different types of animals which may or may not be interacting with each other. The interpretations of this sheet are crucial since they can reveal the attitudes of the subject who performs the test towards her personal environment.

Psychopathy according to the Rorschach Test

  • Have you finished taking the test yet? What have been your responses?
  • In general, it is considered that if you have had original interpretations of the inkblots on the plates it means that you have a creative mind, although in some cases it can also be some type of alteration or trait of psychopathy. Seeing animals is totally normal and common due to the shape of the figures, although if you appreciate them excessively you could also be denoting a huge degree of childishness. Appreciating human profiles is linked to the ability to empathize with other people.
  • When performing this test, it is also very important to assess the time it takes to respond or the position in which the sheet is placed (90 degrees or 180 degrees of rotation).
  • Many of the traits revealed by this test are typical of psychopathy: paranoia, aggressiveness, hostility, deficiencies when relating to other people… How many of these traits have you presented? Do you really think you are a psychopath?
