How to fulfill New Year’s resolutions

That time of the year is approaching in which we take stock of what the last twelve months have been, but also the moment in which we take out a pencil and paper to make our list of resolutions for the new year. We started very happy, aware and with a lot of energy to fulfill our New Year’s resolutions, but… How many of those resolutions did we achieve?

To fulfill all your resolutions for the New Year!

The human being is continually looking for goals and projects that make him grow as a person. When the year is about to end, our head is filled with even more resolutions that we would like to achieve in the coming months, but as the weeks go by we lose strength and energy and, in the end, we end up throwing our list of resolutions in the trash.

In this article we want to give you some guidelines so that this year, yes or yes, everything you set for yourself will be achieved. It’s easier than you might imagine!

Brainstorming

Choose a moment of the day when you are calm, look for that place that transmits peace to you and write down on a piece of paper everything that comes to mind. No matter what it is, the most important thing is that you put it in writing. And here it includes everything: how to change jobs, how to lose weight, how to earn more money, how to improve my state of health… Leave in your notebook everything that comes to mind and that worries you.

Keep it real

Now that you have everything that worries you and that you want to fulfill next year, it’s time to analyze your wishes point by point. Of everything you have put, what goals or projects are most achievable? Which do you think are feasible to carry out? Which purposes are more realistic and which are not? Pick three to five and write them down on another sheet.

Search solutions

Once you have defined those goals or purposes, it is necessary to find a way to carry them out. Come up with a plan, for example, if you want to lose weight think of all the ways you have to achieve it: go to the endocrinologist, make an appointment with a nutritionist, try to do it from home by removing some fat and sweets, practice more sports…

The simple first

Many times the purposes are fulfilled quickly, in a matter of days or weeks, but other times they take longer. So that you don’t lose strength and continue with enough energy, we recommend that you start with the simplest purpose. That will cheer you up and you will see that the ladder to your goal is closer.

Reward yourself

Every time you achieve one of your purposes, it is good that you tell yourself that you can handle everything and, incidentally, that you recognize it with an award. Continuing with the example of the diet, if you have managed to lose three kilos by removing sweets from your diet, treat yourself to eating ONLY ice cream or cake one day. This will give you strength to continue with your goal.

Do not give up

Under no circumstances throw in the towel. If you have not succeeded the first time, for example passing an exam, surely there are more opportunities after a while. In addition, you have to keep in mind that many times those goals or purposes are not achieved due to reasons beyond your control. You can set yourself the goal of changing jobs and you are doing everything in your power -you go to web pages every day, contact people, continue training- but until a position comes out that fits your profile, little else can you do.

Share your purposes

Why not share your wish list with your friends? Perhaps you find that one of them is in your same situation. It will be a way to share experiences and, who knows, unite for your good cause. And, in the case of not having the same goals, they can help you achieve them by giving you advice or encouraging you to continue. Here toxic people, better keep them aside.

Go over your list

It doesn’t hurt that that list you’ve made is in a visible place in the house (how about stuck with a magnet on the kitchen fridge?) so that from time to time you review it and remember it
