Beauty is just a state of mind

What’s wrong with wanting my partner to look beautiful in the eyes of others? Some men defend themselves when their wife’s demands to maintain weight and shape are criticized while they, instead, show off the prominent abdomen that has given them a sedentary life and junk food.“It’s good for her, for her self-esteem,” argue the least “sexist” and in that sense they don’t lose reason, but deep down those who think so prioritize the so poorly distributed gift of beauty that, to top it off, is not eternal.

Beauty at all stages of life

  1. And it is that despite the social, political and economic development achieved by women in the 20th centuries and so far in the 21st, the majority of men —even many of good feelings and respectful of feminine intelligence—, prioritize external beauty, the one that can be groomed, stylized, accommodated, decorated… but that in no way defines the attributes of the soul.
  2. The joviality that takes time will never be able to compete with the charms of a cultured, educated, fulfilled, happy woman… and this is not a boycott of gyms or diets, much that I have defended from this page those styles of healthy lives, but the most important thing is that each woman takes advantage of her own personality and worries above all that her metabolism is correct, that alone is enough to guarantee half the beauty possible at any stage of life.
  3. The mirror, the one that at times gives us back the smile of someone who was young and beautiful, can become a tyrant if it deprives the palate of small pleasures, for example, and enslaves us to reducing creams and anti- cellulite therapies.
  4. The worst thing is when we find women for whom the constant questioning of their partner and friends about the neatness of their nails or the correct hairstyle has broken their mental health to the point of downplaying the nuance of being successful in their professional life or like mother. It is before them when I remember that of Émile Zola, the French novelist who sentenced: beauty is just a state of mind.
