Too much is required of us. We demand too much of ourselves. Today women have to be good professionals, good mothers, good daughters, good friends, good lovers, good partners, achieve success. Today women have to be perfect, always seem young but at the same time accept the passage of time, take care of everything but also find time for themselves, find their emotional balance, know what to do at all times… have you noticed? Realize that perfection doesn’t exist? It would be better to learn to be brave and not perfect, don’t you think?
What is to be brave
You have to accept it as it is: perfection does not exist and the ideal of women that patriarchal society has carefully designed especially for us does not suit us at all. What if we break the rules? Because we are going to be much happier learning to be brave than trying to be perfect. But what is being brave?
- Being brave is making decisions without being paralyzed by doubt and accepting that your decision may be wrong. And that nothing happens.
- Being brave is being a mother in these adverse socioeconomic conditions. Being brave is not being a mother because you don’t accept that sociocultural imposition. And why you do not want.
- Being brave is starting to study and train to change jobs. Being brave is to stop studying when it doesn’t make you happy.
- Being brave is saying “no”. Being brave is saying “yes”.
- Being brave is doing things for the first time. Being brave is to stop doing things that are hurting you.
- Being brave is breaking up with your toxic partner. Being brave is declaring yourself to the person you like.
- Being brave is getting out of your comfort zone. Being brave is creating your perimeter of limits that protect your essence.
- Being brave is recognizing that you are afraid. Being brave is doing it despite that fear.
- Being brave is knowing that you deserve to be happy. Being brave is accepting that there are also bad moments in that happiness.
- Being brave is knowing yourself. Being brave is accepting yourself.
- Being brave is going for your dreams even if no one else believes in them. Being brave is believing in yourself.
- Being brave is freedom.
How to learn to be brave
Now that we are clear that well-being or happiness is found in courage and not in perfection, the doubt arises. How do you learn to be brave? Because after all, betting on a brave life is going against everything we have been taught. We propose some questions that will lead you to be more courageous:
- Are you living the life you want to live?
- Is there any possibility that you can change some aspect of your life to be happier?
- What’s the best thing that could happen if you dare?
- What’s the worst that could happen if you dare?
If you have already answered these questions and feel a tingle of excitement, congratulations! You are already brave. Now you just have to take action.
